บทที่ 28 เราเริ่ม Listening Part 4 ด้วยประกาศ ข้อความเสียง ข่าวสั้น และคำแนะนำไปแล้ว บทนี้จะฝึกโจทย์ Part 4 ที่มี visual information หรือข้อมูลประกอบ เช่น ตาราง แผนที่ schedule chart หรือป้ายประกาศ

ใน TOEIC บางข้อจะให้คุณฟังเสียง แล้วดูข้อมูลที่พิมพ์อยู่ในข้อสอบประกอบ คำถามมักขึ้นต้นประมาณนี้:

Look at the graphic.
Look at the schedule.
Look at the map.
Look at the chart.

ความยากคือคุณต้องทำ 2 อย่างพร้อมกัน:

ฟังเสียง + อ่านข้อมูลภาพประกอบ

หลังจบบทนี้ คุณควรทำได้ 6 อย่าง:

• เข้าใจวิธีทำข้อที่มีข้อมูลภาพประกอบ
• อ่าน chart หรือ table ก่อนฟังแบบเร็วได้
• ใช้ schedule ร่วมกับเสียงเพื่อหาคำตอบได้
• ใช้ map หรือ location information ร่วมกับเสียงได้

ถ้าดูเฉพาะ graphic:

Wednesday = Desks

แต่เสียงบอกว่า Tuesday moved to Wednesday morning ดังนั้น item ที่ย้ายมาคือ:

Printer paper

Graphic gives the base information.
Audio changes, explains, or points to one part of it.

ขั้นตอนทำข้อ Graphic Question

ก่อนฟังให้มองหา:

• schedule มี session อะไรบ้าง
• แต่ละ session เวลาไหน
• speaker อาจพูดเวลา ไม่พูดชื่อ session

ถ้าเสียงพูด:

I cannot attend the ten o'clock workshop, so I will join the session right after lunch.

คุณต้องดู schedule ว่า session after lunch คืออะไร ไม่ใช่เลือก ten o'clock

Chart Question: ตารางและข้อมูลเปรียบเทียบ

Chart หรือ table ใน TOEIC มักให้ข้อมูลแบบเปรียบเทียบ เช่น ราคา เวลา จำนวนคน รายการสินค้า หรือ service plan

Visual Information Traps: ตัวเลือกหลอกจากข้อมูลภาพ

Trap 1: เลือกจากภาพอย่างเดียว

Graphic บอก:

Room 204 = Marketing Workshop

แต่เสียงบอก:

The marketing workshop has been moved from Room 204 to Room 306.

คำตอบต้องเป็น:

Room 306

ไม่ใช่ Room 204

Trap 2: เลือกจากเสียงอย่างเดียว

เสียงพูด:

I will attend the session after lunch.

ถ้าไม่ดู schedule คุณจะไม่รู้ว่า session after lunch คืออะไร

Trap 3: เวลาเดิมกับเวลาใหม่

คำที่ต้องระวัง:

Talk:

วิธีทำข้อที่มี Graphic แบบ 5 วินาทีแรก

ก่อนเสียงเริ่ม ถ้าคุณมีเวลาน้อย ให้ทำแค่ 3 อย่าง:

1. อ่านหัวตารางหรือหัวภาพ
2. มอง label สำคัญ เช่น เวลา ห้อง ราคา ชื่อ session
3. อ่านคำถามว่าต้องหาอะไร

อย่าพยายามอ่านทุก cell ถ้าตารางใหญ่ ให้รู้ก่อนว่าโจทย์ต้องการ time, room, item, price, หรือ location
