บทนี้ต่อจากบทที่ 22 โดยลงลึกเรื่องภาพ 2 ประเภทที่เจอบ่อยใน TOEIC Listening Part 1:

รูปคนมักถามว่า:

ใครกำลังทำอะไร

รูปสิ่งของมักถามว่า:

สิ่งของอยู่ตรงไหน ถูกจัดไว้อย่างไร หรือมีสภาพอย่างไร

หลังจบบทนี้ คุณควรทำได้ 7 อย่าง:

• แยกภาพคนกับภาพสิ่งของได้เร็ว
• ใช้ present continuous กับภาพที่มีคนกำลังทำ action ได้
• เข้าใจ passive description สำหรับภาพสิ่งของได้
• รู้คำศัพท์ furniture และ equipment ที่เจอบ่อย
• รู้คำศัพท์ outdoor scenes ที่เจอบ่อย
• ตัดตัวเลือกหลอกที่ใช้คนผิด action ผิด หรือสิ่งของผิดได้
• ทำ mini test Part 1 ได้เป็นขั้นตอน

รูปคน vs รูปสิ่งของ

ก่อนฟัง ให้แยกภาพก่อนว่าเป็นประเภทไหน

Present Continuous สำหรับรูปคน

รูปคนใน Part 1 มักใช้ present continuous

โครงสร้าง:

Subject + is/am/are + V-ing

ตัวอย่าง:

A man is carrying a box.
ผู้ชายคนหนึ่งกำลังถือกล่อง

A woman is looking at a monitor.
ผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งกำลังมองหน้าจอ

Several people are waiting in line.

สิ่งที่ต้องจับ:

คน = man, woman, people, workers, customers
action = carrying, looking, waiting, installing
object/place = box, monitor, line, sign

Action verbs รูปคนที่เจอบ่อย

คำกริยาเหล่านี้ควรฟังให้ทัน เพราะเป็นหัวใจของรูปคน

คำอื่นที่เจอบ่อย:

read = อ่าน
repair = ซ่อม
clean = ทำความสะอาด
paint = ทาสี
serve = เสิร์ฟ
prepare = เตรียม
load = ขนขึ้น
unload = ขนลง
examine = ตรวจดู
operate = ใช้งานเครื่อง

1. คนผิด

ภาพ: ผู้หญิงกำลังอ่านเอกสาร

ตัวเลือกหลอก:

A man is reading a document.

action และ object อาจตรง แต่คนผิด

2. Action ผิด

ภาพ: ผู้ชายกำลังถือกล่อง

ตัวเลือกหลอก:

A man is opening a box.

มี man และ box จริง แต่ action ไม่ตรง

3. Object ผิด

ภาพ: ผู้หญิงกำลังถือโทรศัพท์

ตัวเลือกหลอก:

A woman is holding a folder.

action ตรง แต่ object ไม่ตรง

4. Location ผิด

ภาพ: ผู้ชายยืนหน้ารถ

ตัวเลือกหลอก:

A man is standing behind a car.

คนและ action ตรง แต่ตำแหน่งผิด

Passive Description สำหรับรูปสิ่งของ

ภาพสิ่งของหรือสถานที่มักใช้ passive voice เพื่อบอกว่าสิ่งของ “ถูกวาง ถูกจัด ถูกจอด ถูกแขวน” อย่างไร

โครงสร้าง:

Noun + is/are + V3

ตัวอย่าง:

Chairs are arranged around a table.
เก้าอี้ถูกจัดรอบโต๊ะ

Boxes are stacked on the floor.
กล่องถูกวางซ้อนบนพื้น

A bicycle is parked near the entrance.

There is + noun เอกพจน์
There are + noun พหูพจน์

เพราะจำนวนไม่ตรง

Furniture and Equipment

คำกลุ่มเฟอร์นิเจอร์และอุปกรณ์ออกบ่อยมากใน Part 1 เพราะภาพออฟฟิศ ร้านค้า และห้องประชุมเยอะ

ประโยคที่เจอบ่อย:

Chairs are arranged around a table.
เก้าอี้ถูกจัดรอบโต๊ะ

Files are stacked on a shelf.
แฟ้มถูกวางซ้อนบนชั้น

A ladder is leaning against a wall.
บันไดพาดกำลังพิงผนัง

A copier is positioned near the window.

คำว่า leaning against แปลว่า พิงอยู่กับ

against a wall = พิงผนัง
against a tree = พิงต้นไม้

Outdoor Scenes

ภาพ outdoor หรือภาพนอกอาคารก็ออกบ่อย เช่น ถนน สวน อาคาร รถ และทางเดิน

คำที่ควรรู้:

คำว่า line ในประโยคนี้เป็น verb แปลว่า เรียงรายอยู่ตามแนว

Present Continuous vs Passive: เลือกฟังอย่างไร

ถ้าภาพมีคนทำ action:

A man is repairing a bicycle.

ถ้าภาพไม่มีคน แต่จักรยานจอดอยู่:

A bicycle is parked near the entrance.

เปรียบเทียบ:

อาจผิด:

เพราะภาพไม่มีผู้หญิงกำลังเปิดประตู

อีกตัวอย่าง:

ภาพ: รถจอดอยู่ริมถนน

ถูก:

Cars are parked along the street.

ผิด:

People are parking cars along the street.

เพราะภาพอาจไม่มีคนกำลังจอดรถ

คำบรรยายสภาพสิ่งของ

ภาพสิ่งของไม่จำเป็นต้องมี action เสมอไป บางครั้งแค่บอกสภาพ

คำที่เจอบ่อย:

open = เปิดอยู่
closed = ปิดอยู่
empty = ว่างเปล่า
full = เต็ม
clean = สะอาด
covered = ถูกปกคลุม
crowded = คนเยอะ/แออัด
empty = ไม่มีคน/ว่าง
available = พร้อมใช้งาน

ตัวอย่าง:

The shelves are full of books.
ชั้นวางเต็มไปด้วยหนังสือ

The room is empty.
ห้องว่าง ไม่มีคน

The table is covered with papers.
โต๊ะถูกปกคลุมด้วยเอกสาร

The door is open.

กับดัก:

The door is being opened.

แปลว่า:

ประตูกำลังถูกเปิด

ประโยคนี้ต้องเห็น action กำลังเกิดขึ้น ถ้าแค่ประตูเปิดค้างอยู่ ให้ใช้:

The door is open.

Mini Listening: People and Objects

คำตอบ:

ภาพ 1: (A) A man is pushing a cart.
ภาพ 2: (B) Chairs are arranged in rows.

เหตุผล:

ภาพ 1 เป็นรูปคน จึงจับ action = pushing
ภาพ 2 เป็นรูปสิ่งของ จึงจับ passive = are arranged

วิธีทำ Mini Test Part 1

ก่อนทำ mini test ให้ใช้ขั้นตอนนี้:

1. แยกภาพว่าเป็นคนหรือสิ่งของ
2. ถ้ามีคน ให้คิด action 2-3 คำ
3. ถ้าไม่มีคน ให้คิด passive/location 2-3 คำ
4. ฟังหรืออ่านตัวเลือก แล้วตัดตัวเลือกที่คน/action/object/location ผิด
5. เลือกประโยคที่ตรงภาพที่สุด ไม่ใช่ประโยคที่มีคำคล้ายภาพที่สุด
