เป้าหมายของบทนี้

บทนี้จะสอนเรื่อง Word Form หรือ “รูปของคำ” ซึ่งเป็นหัวข้อที่ออก TOEIC Part 5 บ่อยมาก

ข้อสอบมักให้คำรากเดียวกันมา 4 แบบ:

(A) inform
(B) information
(C) informative
(D) informatively

ถ้าแปลอย่างเดียวอาจสับสน เพราะทุกคำเกี่ยวกับ “ข้อมูล/แจ้งข้อมูล” แต่คำตอบที่ถูกขึ้นอยู่กับว่าในช่องว่างต้องการ noun, verb, adjective หรือ adverb

Word Form คืออะไร

Word Form คือรูปของคำที่เปลี่ยนไปตามหน้าที่

ตัวอย่างคำรากเดียวกัน:

inform = แจ้ง / ให้ข้อมูล เป็น verb
information = ข้อมูล เป็น noun
informative = ให้ข้อมูลดี / มีประโยชน์ด้านข้อมูล เป็น adjective
informatively = อย่างให้ข้อมูล เป็น adverb

ประโยคตัวอย่าง:

The brochure is informative.
โบรชัวร์ให้ข้อมูลดี

ช่องนี้ใช้ informative เพราะอยู่หลัง is และอธิบาย brochure

แต่:

The brochure contains useful information.

Suffix ที่ช่วยเดาชนิดของคำ

Suffix คือส่วนท้ายของคำที่ช่วยบอกชนิดคำได้

เช่น:

information

ลงท้ายด้วย -tion มักเป็น noun

competitive

ลงท้ายด้วย -ive มักเป็น adjective

carefully

ลงท้ายด้วย -ly มักเป็น adverb

แต่ต้องจำไว้ว่า suffix เป็นตัวช่วย ไม่ใช่กฎที่ถูก 100% เสมอไป

ตำแหน่งของ noun สำคัญที่สุดอย่างหนึ่งใน word form

1. Noun เป็น subject

วิธีทำข้อสอบ Word Form แบบเป็นขั้นตอน

เวลาเจอ Part 5 ที่ตัวเลือกเป็นรากคำเดียวกัน ให้ทำตามนี้:

1. อย่าเพิ่งแปลตัวเลือกทั้งหมด
